Ned Luke, best known as the voice of Michael De Santa in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V, says he was swatted for the eighth time over the Christmas period—this time while he was live on stream.
The incident occurred during a GTA Online session with fellow Rockstar alum Rob Wiethoff, the actor behind John Marston in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2. According to Luke, a caller made a false report to emergency services in an attempt to send armed police to his home, a form of harassment commonly referred to as “swatting.”
### Swatting Remains a Persistent Streaming Threat
Swatting is not just an online prank—it can put streamers, their families, and responding officers in immediate danger. Even when police arrive and quickly determine a call is a hoax, the risk of escalation is real, and repeated incidents can create long-term stress for victims.
Luke’s latest experience was captured during the livestream, with a clip circulated by YouTuber IceBladeNinja. On stream, Luke vented his frustration at the people behind the calls, underscoring how common and persistent this kind of harassment can be for public-facing figures.
### Why This Matters
What makes this case particularly grim is the repetition: eight reported incidents suggests that basic deterrents and platform-level protections still aren’t enough. With game actors and creators increasingly turning to streaming for community engagement and income, swatting remains a serious safety issue that the industry, platforms, and law enforcement will need to treat as more than “internet drama.”
