Rocket League is revving up another pop-culture crossover—this time with Disney and Pixar’s Cars. Psyonix has revealed a Lightning McQueen collaboration that brings the famous red racer into the free-to-play sports game as a limited-time bundle.
### What’s in the Lightning McQueen bundle
The crossover pack is centered on Lightning McQueen as a playable car body, complete with themed cosmetics designed to capture the character’s look from the films. As with previous licensed releases, players can expect a curated set of items—car cosmetics, decals, and matching flair—sold together as a premium bundle rather than unlocked through gameplay.
Psyonix hasn’t positioned this as a full event with bespoke modes, but Rocket League’s crossover strategy tends to focus on highly recognizable vehicles and quick-hit storefront drops. It’s the same approach that has powered earlier tie-ins across movies, sports, and other major entertainment brands.
### When it goes live
The Lightning McQueen content is scheduled to arrive in Rocket League soon as a time-limited shop offering. Availability windows for these collaborations are typically short, encouraging players to pick it up during the initial run rather than waiting for a guaranteed return.
Rocket League, now under Epic Games following its acquisition of Psyonix, has leaned heavily into branded cosmetics as a cornerstone of its live-service economy. Licensed cars are among the game’s most popular premium items, especially for players who enjoy collecting distinct bodies and cosmetic sets.
From a market perspective, this crossover is another example of how live-service games compete for attention with recognizable IP and nostalgia. For players, it’s a straightforward tradeoff: you’re paying for a slick, authentic-looking collector’s item rather than new gameplay—but if you’ve ever wanted to score a goal as Lightning McQueen, this is as official as it gets.
